The All Island Canteen Owners Association has requested President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to provide an opportunity for a round of talks.
President of the Association Asela Sampath addressing a media briefing said all restaurants require the support of the government owing to the present situation.
He said concessions such as settling water or electricity tariffs must be fulfilled by the government or a monthly allowance provided.
Sampath noted restaurants are directly affected by the rise in gas prices.
He said this is a serious concern that has been worsened by the coronavirus pandemic.
He charged that the government has failed to provide any concession to canteen owners during the past two years.
