Parliamentarian Patali Champika Ranawaka has vehemently rejected allegations that two main parties, the United National Party and the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, have failed to do good in the country.
Taking to his official Facebook account MP Ranawaka said Sri Lanka has made great strides in social development during a 70 year period since 1950.
The MP said the governments held by the two parties should be commended for the free healthcare and education facilities that are still enjoyed in the country.
MP Ranawaka claimed the two major parties should be respected for ensuring democracy and not allowing a military rule.
Claiming that Sri Lanka is the cleanest country in South Asia, the Parliamentarian added the credit for this feat should be vested with the UNP and the SLFP.
However, Ranawaka added the two major parties cannot defect from accusations that the economy is collapsing and that ethnic relations were mismanaged.
MP Ranawaka claimed the UNP and the SLPF must both be held accountable for the economic bankruptcy in the country, with the main respondent Mahinda Rajapaksa and his era of governance during 2005-2015.
