State Minister Dilum Amunugama says all members of the Cabinet of Ministers must be removed, if the Yugadanavi Power Plant agreement was signed without a study being conducted by the Cabinet.
When inquired by media in Kandy regarding claims that the agreement was signed without the Cabinet having seen or read the agreement, State Minister Amunugama questioned if the Cabinet would approve an agreement without observing it.
He added it is wrong if they have approved an agreement without reading it.
State Minister Amunugama noted although State Ministers do not attend the Cabinet meeting, in some instances it is the State Minister that initially signs the relevant Cabinet Paper.
He said therefore no State Minister will sign a paper without reading the relevant Cabinet Paper.
He claimed if a Minister approved an agreement without reading it, such individuals should not remain in the Cabinet.
On a separate note, State Minister Dilum Amunugama said he hopes to use land owned by Sri Lanka Railways and the Sri Lanka Transport Board for projects that can generate revenue.
The State Minister said steps will be taken to obtain revenue earned for the relevant departments.
State Minister Amunugama said the relevant properties are only used to drive buses and trains, adding however they have great economic value.
He said therefore they will work together with the private sector to use the properties to generate income, by constructing trade complexes and similar development projects.
State Minister Amunugama noted Sri Lanka Railways incurred a loss of Rs.10 billion annually, adding the SLTB did not incur losses.
He said however next years unfoldings cannot be stated for certain, and therefore revenue generated from the land will be used for the relevant departments.
