The State Ministry of Consumer Protection has issued directives to the Consumer Affairs Authority to inform the Litro and Laugfs gas companies to only supply gas based on the directives issued by the Court of Appeal, regarding domestic gas.
State Minister Lasantha Alagiyawanna said the Consumer Affairs Authority will inform the companies in this regard, adding the two gas companies are bound to adhere to the directives.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Technology said new gas cylinders with a sticker including information regarding the composition of the gas cylinder, will be released to the market from today.
Accordingly, the relevant gas cylinders will have a composition of 30 percent of propane and 70 percent of butane, in line with standards set by the Sri Lanka Standards Institution.
The Ministry added gas cylinders will also have a 14 percent composition of mercaptan, to detect the gas odour.
