Food and Drug Inspector of the Southern Province KH Jayarathna said under the first phase raids were carried out in the Galle District.
Jayarathna noted several complaints were lodged by the public with the National Medicines Regulatory Authority, pertaining to low quality oximeters, from across the island.
He said accordingly over 42 pharmacies were inspected in Galle, Karapitiya, Baddegama and Ambalangoda.
He added nearly 250 low quality oximeters were seized during the raids.
