The Sri Lanka Transport Board will facilitate transport services for individuals who travelled to hometowns for the New Year to return to Colombo.
The SLTB said additional buses will be added to the service.
Deputy General Manager Panduka Swarnahansa said 200 additional buses have been deployed for this purpose.
He said passenger transportation will return to normal by Sunday.
Meanwhile, Superintendent of Railways Gamini Seneviratne said several special trains will be in operation from the 17th for commuters who travelled to rural areas to return to Colombo.
