Investigations have commenced into a group that had ties to the suspects arrested over the discovery of a hand grenade at the premises of the All Saints’ Church in Borella recently.

Secretary of the Ministry of Public Security Rt. Major General Jagath Alwis said the evidence that has been gathered will be directed to the Attorney General for further legal action.

He said investigative teams have handed over reports to the Attorney General adding they will subsequently act on his advice.

Rt. Major General Alwis claimed the temple, church, and hospital that the group targeted, would have led to casualties had the hand grenades exploded, adding that it also threatens national security.

Therefore, he noted the importance of revealing their intentions.
