Minister of Trade Bandula Gunawardana who is currently engaged in an official visit to Pakistan has called on the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan at the Office of the Prime Minister in Islamabad.
The Prime Minister during the meeting said regular discussions are essential to ensure maximum benefits are garnered through the Sri Lanka-Pakistan Trade Agreement.
Imran Khan also highlighted the need to take steps to guide businesses in both countries to maintain a more expansive scope of trade.
He added the government of Pakistan will expand opportunities for tourism, related to Buddhist pilgrimage and expressed hope of promoting the Sri Lankan Buddhist culture in Pakistan.
Minister Bandula Gunawardana meanwhile said steps could be taken to further strengthen trade cooperation between Sri Lanka and Pakistan in a number of areas including education, health, technology, apparel, and tourism.
