A total of 2,352 persons in two districts have been affected owing to adverse weather conditions in the past few days.
The Disaster Management Centre said 82 houses have been damaged due to the heavy rains and gusty winds.
The DMC added that 73 houses in Ratnapura and nine houses in Kalutara have been damaged due to incessant rains.
Meanwhile, the Department of Meteorology says South-west monsoon condition is gradually establishing over the island.
Accordingly, the Met Department predicted showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-Western provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.
Heavy showers above 100mm can be expected at some places in the Sabaragamuwa province and in the Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts.
The Met Department added that several spells of showers will occur in the Northern Province and in the Anuradhapura and Hambantota districts.
Furthermore, strong winds about 40-50kmph can be expected at times over the western slope of the central hills, Northern, North-Central and North-Western provinces and in the Hambantota district.
The general public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
