Ayurvedic health workers in various parts of the country have decided to launch a trade union action based on the failure to provide the COVID-19 duty allowance due to Ayurvedic health staff.
Accordingly, the Ayurvedic health staff of the Sabaragamuwa Province and staff of the herbal gardens of the Department of Ayurveda and the Medawachchiya Ayurvedic Hospital will join the union action today.
Issuing a statement the All Ceylon Ayurveda Health Services Association said they will engage in a sick note campaign today.
Additionally preparations have been made to hold a series of protests opposite the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Department of Ayurveda and the Navinna Department of Ayurveda at 10am, opposite the State Ministry of Indigenous Medicine at 1pm and opposite the Ministry of Health at 3pm.
The Association said union action will be intensified if the government does not take prompt steps to provide the Rs.7,500 allowance to Ayurvedic health staff.
