Authorities have reiterated that adequate stocks of fuel are available in the country at present.
The Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Ltd has informed that there are sufficient stocks of fuel in the country, and requested the public to refrain from causing unnecessary panic at filling stations.
Speaking during a media briefing in Colombo, Chairman Mohamed Uvais said 40,000MT of diesel landed in the country today.
He noted 36,000MT of petrol is due to arrive in the country tomorrow, while another stock of 40,000MT of diesel is due to arrive on Friday. He reiterated there is no fuel shortage.
Uvais said petrol required for 8-10 days is available in stocks, and diesel stocks are sufficient for 10 days.
He stated there is sufficient fuel for a month, in stocks and with orders placed for more stocks.
Chairman Mohamed Uvais said therefore the public has no reason to panic.
He further said once a filling station places an order, they will distribute fuel within 24 hours to any part of the country.
