Sri Lanka’s inflation, as measured by the change in the Colombo Consumers’ Price Index has increased by 0.3 percent in August.
The Department of Census and Statistics announced that it has increased to 6.0 percent in August from 5.7 percent in July.
The CCPI for all items for the month of August has increased to 143.5 from 143.1 in July.
The Census Department said this was driven by monthly increases of prices of items in both Food and Non-food categories.
It added, according to Year on Year inflation, prices of fresh fish, fresh fruits, sugar and chicken increased, while prices of rice and coconut had decreased.
