Samagi Jana Balawegaya Parliamentarian Velu Kumar says suspicions have arisen over attempts to steal mineral resources of the country’s Eastern seas.
The MP said two ships that were anchored adjacent to the Eastern Maritime Boundary since the 15th of December have set sail towards Bangladesh.
MP Velu Kumar speaking at a media briefing in Kandy today questioned the purpose of the arrival of the two ships and raised suspicions of government involvement.
On a separate note, the Parliamentarian said a major dollar crisis has arisen in the country while economically the government has failed to provide satisfactory responses or a clear vision for the future.
MP Kumar said gas leak explosions are also being reported risking people’s lives.
The MP also charged that significant divisions have been reported within the government.
