Samagi Jana Balawegaya Parliamentarian Ashok Abeysinghe has called for legal action to be taken against former Minister of Finance Basil Rajapaksa and all others responsible for the present crisis that the country is in and to file charges dune the Penal Code.
Expressing his views to NewsRadio MP Abeysinghe said the SJB should be granted the opportunity to establish a consensus government.
The MP said the Rajapaksa family, former Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka Ajith Nivard Cabraal, former Secretary to the President PB Jayasundara, and former Treasury Secretary SR Attygalle must be held responsible for this crisis.
He called for the President and the government to step down.
MP Abeysinghe charged that foreign remittances have reduced from USD 600 million to USD 200 million.
He said the Prime Minister has no mandate, while his party only holds one seat in Parliament.
He claimed there is no stable government, leading to issues in generating foreign exchange.
MP Abeysinghe called for an interim government to be appointed for a short one-year period to stabilise the country.
