President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has decided to set up a ‘Green Agriculture Operative Centre’ to systematically and sustainably fulfil the priorities identified to make Sri Lanka an eco-friendly country.
The process is being implemented under the purview of the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army General Shavendra Silva.
The Operative Centre will be responsible for a number of responsibilities including merging the Colombo Commercial Fertilisers Ltd and the Ceylon Fertilisers Company Limited into the National Organic Fertiliser and Distribution Limited.
The Operative Centre must also coordinate with the two Presidential Task Forces established to transform Sri Lanka into a green economy with sustainable solutions to climate change.
The President’s Media Unit said the ‘Green Agriculture Operative Centre’ will also be responsible for organising the National Green Economy Council.
