Army Commander Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage says there is no question about the strength of National Security in Sri Lanka.
Speaking to media in Kandy, the Army Commander said the Sri Lanka Army will give its maximum support to the farming community.
He said the Army has inquired over lands abandoned by the government, as the first step in its battle against the food crisis.
The Army Commander said the Army will begin farming in these bare lands, as directed by the Board for Agriculture within the Forces.
Army Commander Liyanage denied allegations that the Sri Lanka Army stood by while politician’s houses were set on fire.
He added that officers on duty acted to stop the threat.
