The Court of Appeal has directed the Attorney General to submit the full report on the demarcation of the Muthurajawela Wetland on the 4th of March.
The writ petition filed against the disposal of garbage in the Muthurajawela wetland was taken up for consideration yesterday.
The petition was taken up before a bench comprising Justices Sobhitha Rajakaruna and Dhammika Ganepola.
The Central Environmental Authority and the Ministry of Wildlife Resources have been cited as respondents in the petition filed by the Center for Environmental Justice.
The petitioners claim that garbage is disposed in the Muthurajawela wetland by various parties causing environmental pollution.
The petitioners are requesting an interim order to be issued to prevent the disposal of garbage.
