The opposition has decided to hold a public rally in Anuradhapura on the 29th of March.
Speaking during a media briefing in Colombo today, Parliamentarian SM Marikkar said they will rally all anti-government factions and display their displeasure over the actions of the current administration.
MP Marikkar noted, they have decided to hold the rally in an area where they had tasted defeat in previous elections.
He said it will clearly send a message to the government and the country that the people are now behind the opposition which has become a viable alternative.
MP SM Marikkar said at present, farmers, teachers and the public in general are facing numerous challenges while the rights and the future of the youth have been destroyed.
He added that the country has become a battlefield while the government is continuing to sell valuable state assets to various international entities.
The Parliamentarian also noted that the current rulers are unwilling to take any responsibility for the current state of the country.
MP Marikkar said all Cabinet Ministers instead of objectively receiving criticisms have been accusing the people of not making sacrifices.
He said Ministers of Finance, Trade and Agriculture have been blaming the people instead of providing concessions to the public who had endured numerous hardships during the past two years.
MP Marikkar claimed that since the country cannot function under the current rulers, they will rally the people and continue to stand up against injustice.
