The United National Party says Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will soon convene an international economic conference.
Addressing media in Colombo, Chairman of the UNP Wajira Abeywardena said the Prime Minister is engaged in efforts to provide solutions to eliminate queues and provide concessions to the public.
The former Minister noted the public is facing many inconveniences due to the shortage of essentials such as fuel, gas, and kerosene oil.
Abeywardena said at present the country faces a shortage of 3.5 million gas cylinders. He claimed a minimum of five fuel shipments are required in order to address the fuel shortage.
The UNP Chairman said Sri Lanka is currently classified as a bankrupt nation, while an international economic conference will help in taking action to speed up the country’s recovery.
