The Association of Medical Specialists has urged the public to continue the practice of wearing face masks, especially at indoor gatherings.
The Association said health authorities must determine if face masks should be worn at health facilities to prevent the elderly and people with medical complications from becoming exposed to respiratory illnesses.
The Association added the announcement of lifting the face mask regulation, did not explain the need for health staff as well as patients to wear masks in hospitals.
The announcement also drew attention to such a directive amidst an economic crisis and a medicine shortage.
The Association said possible infections will increase the cost of treatment for individuals falling ill and will also contribute to a worsening economic crisis.
Therefore, the Association of Medical Specialists claimed the announcement that face masks are not mandatory is inappropriate and untimely.
