The American Senate tweeted a message on the measures to be completed by Sri Lanka before entering into an agreement with the International Monetary Fund.
It states that Sri Lanka should first introduce a program to ensure the Central Bank’s independence, ensure rule of law and to eliminate fraud and corruption in the country.
The Foreign Relations Committee of the US Senate emphasized that without such reforms, Sri Lanka will continue to face further economic mismanagement and an uncontrollable debt situation.
Any @IMFNews agreement with #SriLanka must be contingent on @CBSL independence, strong anti-corruption measures & promotion of the rule of law. Without these critical reforms, Sri Lanka could suffer further economic mismanagement & uncontrollable debt. https://t.co/oMdT7QIwZP
