The State, Provincial and Government Federation of Trade Unions has requested that state and private sector workers be granted concessions for late arrivals until the present crisis is addressed.

The Federation said due to traffic congestions caused by queues for fuel and gas and the daily power cuts, reporting to duty on time has become a challenge.

Speaking to NewsRadio, General Secretary of the Federation Ajith K. Tillekeratne said a request was made from the government to provide relief for late arrivals especially when signing in.

He said the workforce is under immense pressure at present owing to the present developments in the country.

Therefore, Tillekeratne requited that private and public sector workers be granted some concessions.

He also charged that all issues the country is experiencing at present were created by the government and is not the fault of the public.
