Train operations will be affected today due to the mass demonstration launched by trade unions including railway employees.
The Railway Trade Union Alliance announced that its members too have joined today’s demonstration organised to demand the resignation of the incumbent government.
Co-convener of the Union SP Vithanage said more than 30 railway unions withdrew from services.
He claimed in order to support the people’s struggle; engineers, drivers, guards, station masters and technical persons have withdrawn from services.
SP Vithanage noted train operations will come to a complete halt due to the strike.
The Railway Trade Union Alliance said the token strike will be carried out until midnight tomorrow.
The strike is aimed at strengthening the people’s struggle against the government.
