Minister of Education Susil Premajayantha says all preparations for the conduct of the 2021 GCE Ordinary Level Examination have been made.
Minister Premajayantha requested all parties to extend their support to conduct the examination successfully. 517,496 applicants are due to sit for the exam at 3,844 examination centres.
The Ministry of Education said 542 coordinating centres have also been established for the O/L exam.
Speaking to a media briefing, the Education Minister requested the support of Sri Lanka Railways and other transportation services, private bus operators, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, the Sri Lanka Police and all trade unions in the education sector to extend the necessary support to conduct the examination.
The Minister added that supervisors and invigilators had reported for duty today to prepare for tomorrow’s examination.
Minister Susil Premajayantha said the relevant authorities had been instructed to grant exam officials priority when issuing fuel over the course of the exam.
He called for the need to prioritize issuing fuel to vehicles transporting students sitting for the exam as well.
Meanwhile, the Department of Examinations stated preparations with regard exam papers, answering papers and stationery related to the exam have been carried out.
Speaking to a media briefing the Commissioner General of Examinations LMD Dharmasena stated the relevant exam officials had already commenced their duties.
He extended his thanks to the divisional educational officers for the support extended in conducting the examination.
