The Sri Lanka Freedom Party says the prevailing crisis could be resolved within a short period if an all-party government is established as proposed by the party.
Speaking during a media briefing in Colombo today, former President Maithripala Sirisena claimed the present administration has no international recognition.
Former President Sirisena said members of the government question if the prevailing issues will be resolved if a new government was to be formed adding an all-party government is the only solution.
The former Head of State claimed he held discussions with diplomatic missions and experts adding they assured their support if an all-party government inclusive of 15 Ministers is formed with a timeline provided for holding a General Election.
The former President said due to the government’s actions during the past three years, it has lost the trust of the international community.
On a separate note, former President Maithripala Sirisena said he was prepared to support the 21st Amendment to the Constitution, which is similar to the 19th Amendment which was enacted during his term as the Head of State.
He said according to reports, provisions of the 19th Amendment are scheduled to be approved by the Cabinet of Ministers on Monday adding however the approved bill needs to be thoroughly reviewed.
