The JVP says all factions must work together to ensure the concept ‘one country, one law’ becomes a reality.
Speaking during an event yesterday, JVP Politburo member KD Lalkantha said society accepts that different laws exist for different genders, citing an example that a female state sector employee will receive paid maternity leave, while a male does not receive paternity leave.
However, the MP said certain countries grant paternity leave.
Lalkantha added the ‘one country, one law’ concept is applicable to a majority of other situations such as road rules.
However, in reality the JVP Politburo member claimed Ministers are treated different to the general public when driving on roads.
