Minister of Justice Ali Sabry says he does not intend on representing Parliament again.

Speaking during an event in Colombo, Minister Sabry also commented on the difficulties faced by the public due to delays in court proceedings.

The Minister said arrangements are being made to expedite court proceedings.

He said the public is the most important factor of the legal profession adding all other aspects are secondary when considering the interest of the people.

Minister Sabry said he prefers engaging in the legal profession over being in Parliament.

The Minister said some laws in the country have not been updated for over a century claiming there are over 30 committees working on the matters.

He said people are submitting complaints via social media, while the Chief Prelates have also called for a special court system.

The Justice Minister said similar delays are also prevalent in child abuse case hearings.

Minister Sabry said there was no point laying blame on each other adding everyone is responsible for the current situation.
