Leader of the National People’s Power Anura Kumara Dissanayake says the current economic crisis cannot be solved within six months.
Speaking in Parliament today, Parliamentarian Dissanayake said the current crisis is a result of mismanagement and incorrect economic policies taken during the past 42 years.
He said he will not be able to solve the crisis in a mere six months but can lay the platform to address the issues.
MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake said a reliable government which has the confidence of the people must be formed.
The Parliamentarian claimed that if he was given an opportunity to pick his own Cabinet, he will be able to bring some stability to the country.
He said after six months, he will call for an election and seek a fresh mandate.
MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake however recently claimed that if he was given the governing power, he will be able to solve the economic crisis.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said he took over the Premiership not to receive accolades, but to put an end to the misery of the people.
Prime Minister Wickremesinghe noted that if any individual be it Anura Kumara Dissanayake or any other MP has a better programme, he will extend his support unconditionally.
The Premier stressed that the crisis could deteriorate further and therefore it is imperative that all factions rally behind one programme.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe noted all MPs should sideline traditional politics and work for the best interest of the country.
