The overseas travel ban imposed on Former Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka Ajith Nivard Cabraal has been extended till the 2nd of May.
Colombo Additional Magistrate Harshana Kekunawela also ordered Ajith Nivard Cabraal to appear before Court on the 2nd of May.
The notice was issued after the Former Central Bank Governor failed to appear before court on the 7th of April.
Notice was initially issued based on a complaint that Ajith Nivard Cabraal while functioning as the CBSL Governor issued Central Bank Bonds to his close associates which resulted in the government incurring losses.
Appearing on behalf of Ajith Nivard Cabraal, Attorney Jeewantha Jayathilaka had informed court that he will submit preliminary objections over the complaint.
