The Attorney General has requested the Colombo Commercial High Court to immediately rescind the enjoining order issued on the 2nd of June banning an Aeroflot flight from leaving the Bandaranaike International Airport.
Meanwhile, earlier today, the Attorney General moved a motion before the Colombo Commercial High Court requesting for the Aeroflot aircraft case to be taken up in open court to make a special submission.
Last week, an Aeroflot flight was prevented from leaving the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) based on an enjoining order issued by the Commercial High Court over a legal dispute between two private companies.
Court on Friday decided to take up the case on Wednesday.
Russian authorities then reacted strongly over the move to prevent the aircraft from leaving BIA.
Russian flag carrier Aeroflot also announced that it was suspending commercial flights between Colombo and Moscow.
The Foreign Ministry meanwhile maintained that the issue is between two private entities.
Russian nationals who were unable to leave Sri Lanka for the past three days due to the flight being grounded, following a Court order, returned to Russia yesterday.
