The Attorney General and Laugfs Gas PLC informed court today that they will file objections against a petition to take legal action against all those involved in the importation and distribution of substandard domestic gas cylinders, in which they have been cited as respondents.
Objections were filed when the petition was taken up before a Court of Appeal bench comprising of Justices Ruwan Fernando and Sampath Abeykoon.
The petition filed by civil activist Nagananda Kodithuwakku names 10 respondents including Minister of Trade Bandula Gunawardena, State Minister Lasantha Alagiyawanna, Laugfs and Litro Gas Companies, the Consumer Affairs Authority, the Sri Lanka Standards Institute and the Attorney General.
The petition seeks an order requesting that legal action be taken against those responsible, under criminal law. The petition will be considered one again on the 14th of December.
