Minister Rohitha Abeygunawardena says decisions must be reached pertaining to those engaging in trade union action resulting in the public being burdened.
Speaking in Parliament today, Minister Abeygunawardena questioned whether trade unions and union leaders do not care for patients severely affected by strikes.
The Minister claimed the motives of the trade unions are to create a public opinion against the government.
Minister Rohitha Abeygunawardena said such actions can be done during an election instead of putting public lives at risk.
He at present said people are living in fear adding individuals even seek medical advice for a common flu.
The Minister said there are 1.6 million state sector employees adding if all state sector employees take to the streets over salary anomalies, it will be a catastrophe.
Minister Abeygunawardena therefore called on the Minister of Justice to take appropriate decisions pertaining to the matter.
He said legal action must be taken against all such individuals as opposed to violent action resorted against protesters during the past.
Minister Abeygunawardena said the judiciary must take necessary action on behalf of patriots.
