A five-hour power cut will be enforced across the island today.
Accordingly, the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka said a three hour and 20-minute power cut will be enforced in the morning and a one hour and 40-minute power cut at night.
The PUCSL attributed the extended power disruption to the shortage of fuel and the increase in demand.
The National Movement for Consumer Rights Protection says efforts are underway to increase diesel and petrol prices, and electricity tariffs.
