The Terrorist Investigation Division has commenced investigation into 702 Sri Lankans who had allegedly maintained links with a prominent member of the IS terror group who had been arrested in India.
IS member Mohamed Samsudeen had been arrested recently by the Indian Intelligence Agency.
The TID informed the Colombo Magistrate today that details pertaining to 702 Sri Lankans had been uncovered from the WhatsApp account of the IS member.
Images and speeches of the mastermind behind the 2019 Easter Sunday Attacks Zahran Hashim have also been uncovered from the WhatsApp account.
The TID had confirmed one person among the 702 individuals has been arrested.
The individual is being questioned by the TID while in detention.
