The Foreign Ministry says as of today another 66 Sri Lankans have been evacuated with seven more left to return to Sri Lanka from Afghanistan.
Issuing a statement the Ministry said 21 Lankans have opted to remain in Afghanistan.
The Foreign Ministry said Sri Lanka continues to monitor the developments in Afghanistan and remain concerned of the situation, including its humanitarian aspect.
The statement added Sri Lanka has been facilitating, with the assistance of international partners, the evacuation of citizens from Afghanistan.
The Ministry added Sri Lanka hopes that all those who possess travel authorization from other countries will be allowed to proceed in a safe and orderly manner to the points of departure and travel out of Afghanistan.
