6,500 to participate in the 74th Independence Day parade

6,500 forces personnel are scheduled to participate in the parade for the 74th Independence Day celebrations.

Speaking at a media briefing held at the Department of Government Information Secretary General of Defence Retired General Kamal Gunaratne said they will represent the Tri-Forces, Police, Police Special Task Force, Sri Lanka Civil Security Force and the National Cadet Corps.

He said accordingly 3,463 Army personnel, 919 Navy personnel, 804 Air Force personnel, 336 Police officers and 282 Police Special Task Force personnel will join the parade.

He added 437 personnel from the Sri Lanka Civil Security Force and 259 from the National Cadet Corps will also participate in the parade.

General Gunaratne said apart from the Police Department, all other troops are under the Ministry of Defence.
