The Sri Lanka Police says investigations have been launched into 59 WhatsApp group admins who allegedly encouraged violence on Monday (9).
Police said such individuals will be prosecuted under the Computer Crime Act and the criminal law.
Meanwhile, Police also introduced hotlines 1997 and 118 and email address telligp@police.gov.lk for the public to report incidents of violence that took place on Monday.
The Police warned the public not to engage in violence as curfew regulations will be strictly enforced tonight, and urged that they not gather along roads, engage in looting or destructive actions.
