45 arrested in an attempt to illegally migrate via sea

Sri Lanka Navy has seized two suspicious local multi-day fishing trawlers with 45 individuals, during patrols carried out in southern and western seas.

Sri Lanka Navy has seized two suspicious local multi-day fishing trawlers with 45 individuals, during patrols carried out in southern and western seas.

Accordingly, the Navy seized a trawler in the southern coast with 26 persons aboard while another trawler with 19 individuals on board was seaized in western seas yesterday.

The suspects are residents of Kalpitiya, Chilaw, Puttalam, Negombo, and Kilinochchi.

The Navy said the individuals were suspected to have attempted illegal migration via sea.
