UNP Chairman Vajira Abeywardena predicts that Acting President Ranil Wickremesinghe will secure close to 140 votes in the upcoming election within parliament, to select a new President.
Speaking to media the Former Minister said he has held talks with leaders of other political parties on policies needed for a country that is in a recession.
The former Minister assured that acting President Wickremesinghe had the confidence of a majority in parliament for his political experience.
The UNP Chairman commented that it was in everyone’s best interest if the UNP Leader is elected as the next President with the approval of a Parliament majority.
Abeywardena was confident that acting President Wickremesinghe had the skills to uplift Sri Lanka from its current state both in Asia and in the World.
He recalled that the acting President had a vast political experience of 50 years.
