The group of 41 Parliamentarians who declared themselves independent of the government has requested permission from the Speaker of the House to be seated as a separate group in Parliament.
Parliamentarian Vasudeva Nanayakkara said a written request was made to the Speaker today to allocate seats in the government or opposition benches as a separate group.
Accordingly, the 13 MPs representing the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, 10 MPs including those of the National Freedom Front, the independent group of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna and two members representing the Ceylon Workers Congress are expected to sit as a separate group in Parliament.
Parliament is due to convene at 10am tomorrow.
