The Sri Lanka Navy has seized over 3704kg of smuggled dried turmeric and arrested four local suspects with a vessel while six Indian nationals were also arrested.
Navy officers observed a suspicious Indian vessel in Northwestern seas.
Search operations revealed 2,100kg of smuggled dried turmeric in 60 sacks.
Meanwhile the North Central Naval Command seized 866kg and arrested four suspects and a dinghy.
In a separate operation Navy officers uncovered 22 sacks of dried turmeric, immersed in the Irukkampiddi lagoon.
Six Indian nationals along with the stock of dried turmeric were arrested and handed over to the Sinnapadu Customs Prevention Office.
