Minister of Industries Wimal Weerawansa claims a total of 3,096 vehicles were manufactured within the country during the past six months.

Speaking in Parliament, Minister Weerawansa noted that they assembled several vehicles and added value to the product while the country is dealing with the COVID-19 crisis.

The Minister said they are taking all measures to rebuild the country’s economy.

He said the government and state institutions have been dealing with an economic crisis and import restrictions.

Minister Wimal Weerawansa said everyone will reject the notion that the current economic crisis was the doing of the government itself.

The Minister said the current crisis was compounded due to the COVID-19 pandemic but it was due to programmes and measures taken during the past several decades.

Minister Weerawansa also said the present opposition when in power destroyed the economy and crippled the production mechanism and now expecting the government to do miracles within two years.
