Police have arrested 27 individuals for entering the Adams Peak worship zone with narcotics.
Police headquarters issuing a statement said the group includes youth who arrived on the Hatton route over the weekend in possession of narcotic pills and cannabis.
The suspects were produced before the Hatton Magistrates court and later released on bail.
Police said all suspects were arrested during a Police operation to curb the smuggling of drugs into the Adams Peak worship zone.
Checkpoints were set-up at the Colombo-Hatton main road, Hatton-Nuwara Eliya main road and Hatton train station.
The group of 27 includes those aged from 19 to 30 who were revealed to be residents of Kurunegala, Galle, Anuradhapura and Colombo.
