The draft of the proposed 21st Amendment to the Constitution will be presented to the Cabinet of Ministers once again today.
Although the draft was tabled before the Cabinet on several occasions, during the last Cabinet meeting, it was decided to include changes proposed by various political parties and civil society groups and table the Cabinet paper again.
It was announced earlier this month that a general consensus has been reached between all parties regarding several key points related to the draft of the 21st Amendment to the Constitution.
Political party leaders met with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on several occasions to discuss matters pertaining to the 21st Amendment to the Constitution.
Accordingly, Minister of Justice Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe is expected to table the draft of the 21st Constitutional Amendment before the Cabinet today.
The Cabinet will convene under the auspices of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa in Colombo this evening.
