The group were produced before the Gangodawila Magistrate’s Court last night.
Magistrate Prasanna Alwis has ordered for another six suspects to be remanded until the 4th of April and also for the group to be produced at an identification parade on that day.
Hundreds of lawyers appeared at the Court premises to represent the arrested persons from Thursday’s protest.
Speaking to NewsRadio Lawyer Athula Ranagala said the suspects in question were beaten and detained under the Offences Against Public Property Act.
Ranagala said the Magistrate considered arguments from both sides carefully and made a final decision to reject efforts to remand the suspects.
