The 2022 Budget proposal will be presented in Parliament on the 12th of November.
The decision was reached at a meeting of the Committee on Parliamentary Business today.
The Office of the Chief Government Whip said a decision was reached for the final vote or the third reading vote of the 2022 Budget to be held on the 10th of December.
The 2022 Appropriation Draft Bill was presented in Parliament today by Minister of Finance Basil Rajapaksa. Government expenditure for 2022 has been estimated at Rs.2,505.3 billion.
Rs.1,776 billion has been cited as recurring capital.
The Appropriation Bill contains details of expenditure heads for each Ministry.
The Appropriation Bill to provide service for the financial year 2022, to authorize the raising of loans in or outside Sri Lanka and to enable the payment, by way of advances out of the consolidated fund or any other fund or money, was published in the Gazette on September 29, 2021.
Accordingly, the first reading of the Bill took place today.
