The Sri Pada pilgrimage season for the year 2021-2022 concluded today.
Accordingly, the relics which were placed in the Adams Peak courtyard with the commencement the pilgrimage season, are being taken to the Galpoththawela Raja Maha Viharaya, Pelmadulla in a procession along the Ratnapura Palabatgala Road from the courtyard.
The procession conducted by Sri Lanka Army troops according to ceremonial traditions commenced at 8 am today.
The Chief Sanganayaka of the Sabaragamuwa Province and the Chief Incumbent of Sri Pada, Most Ven. Bengamuwe Sri Dhammadinna Nayake Thera said a similar procession will be conducted by the troops at the Laxapana Army Camp which will commence this afternoon from the Adams Peak courtyard and will travel towards the Nallathanniya Buddhist Center.
