A hotline has been introduced for appointment reservations at the Consular Affairs Division of the Foreign Ministry.
The Ministry in collaboration with the Government Information Center introduced the 1919 hotline for appointment reservations for the public who wish to authenticate certificates and documents through the electronic Document Attestation System (eDAS) in addition to the prevalent walk-ins system.
The hotline was introduced with a view of streamlining procedures at the Consular Affairs Division and assisting the public visiting the Division daily.
The appointment reservation system will focus on the public who do not have access to the online appointment reservation.
The services under the new system will be available from yesterday (27).
The Ministry said any individual who wishes to reserve a time slot by calling the hotline from any telephone network will be able to do so by following the instructions provided by the call centre agent.
The Ministry issuing a statement said while the current practice of receiving walk-ins and online appointments will be available, the public is also encouraged to visit the Regional Consular Offices in Jaffna, Matara, Kandy, Trincomalee and Kurunegala to obtain Consular Services excluding the authentication of GCE Ordinary and Advanced Level Examination Certificates.
