The Ministry of Agriculture says 16,272MT of urea fertiliser imported from India have already been distributed among farmers.
The Ministry said fertiliser stocks have been distributed through Paddy Marketing Board offices.
Farmers in the Polonnaruwa district have received the most number of stocks of fertiliser for the Yala season.
The Ministry said 5,382MT of urea fertiliser have been distributed among farmers in Polonnaruwa while Western Province farmers have received 956MT of fertiliser.
The distribution of fertiliser received through the Indian credit line is currently underway.
Furthermore, 15,000MT of fertiliser will be distributed among those in the tea industry as well.
