Former Deputy Minister Sarana Gunawardena has been released from eight cases that were filed against him.
The order was issued when the cases were taken up for consideration before the Colombo Chief Magistrate Buddhika Ragala this morning.
Officials of the Bribery Commission informed Court that a majority of the charges against Sarana Gunawardena, were filed without the due consent by the three Commissioner of the Bribery Commission.
The Chief Magistrate issued the order taking into consideration the technical errors.
Sarana Gunawardena was charged with incurring losses to the government during a tender process during his term as Chairman of the Development Lotteries Board in 2007.
